description Whiskey Creek Group Picnic Area is located on the northeastern shore of Whiskeytown Lake in the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, just 14 miles west of Redding, California and three hours north of Sacramento. The Lake offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities for visitors year-round, including kayaking, sailing, fishing, swimming and water skiing.
drivingDirection Take State Route 299 west from Interstate 5. Travel west through Redding and continue approximately 11 miles west. Turn onto Whiskey Creek Road, pass the Whiskey Creek launch area. At the fork in the road, turn right and follow paved road approximately one mile to where it ends at the group picnic area.
facilitiesDescription This day-use picnic area contains three large group sites with dirt surfaces, each with two large serving tables, numerous picnic tables and a large charcoal barbecue grill. Garbage cans and vault toilets are provided. A gravel parking area sits near the picnic area entrance, and picnickers must walk on a short trail to reach the sites.

Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site.
